BEAR CREEK MOUNTAIN RESORT WILL START BLOWING SNOW THIS WEEKEND
MACUNGIE, PA – Bear Creek Mountain Resort is planning to take advantage of the forecasted cold temperatures and begin blowing snow the evening of Saturday, December 5.
Bear Creek requires just 3 to 4 days of around-the-clock snowmaking to blanket the entire mountain with a 24” base, enough snow to open for the season. “We are looking forward to another great winter season with or without natural snow from Mother Nature,” reported General Manager Mark Schroetel.
Bear Creek Mountain Resort boasts the highest snowmaking density of any mountain in Pennsylvania, featuring 100 percent snowmaking coverage and 117 total snow guns. Over 50% are automated guns, which communicate with five weather stations on the mountain and automatically adjust themselves every two seconds to perform optimally in the current conditions. The use of automated snowmaking will allow Bear Creek to open trails earlier in the season and maintain snow depth and surface conditions throughout the winter.
