Things to do this Summer at Bear Creek Mountain Resort

11/06/2021
As the warm weather starts to settle in, summer events in PA are starting to fill up people’s planners once again. With plenty of outdoor space for activities, Bear Creek is excited to invite guests onto its property to experience some of the newest attractions. So, if you’re looking for things to do, Bear Creek has a calendar full of festivals, weekend-warrior events, and daily activities that are great for getting out of the house during the week.

Outdoor Concerts

The local-favorite live musical performances on Thursdays return this year. Starting on May 19th, Manatawny Creek Ramblers will be kicking off Music Under the Stars FREE community concert series that will last throughout the summer. This outdoor FREE concert takes place every third Thursday of the month, along with select Sundays, from 7-10pm. There is also live music on the calendar on every other Thursday evening from 6-9pm at the resort’s signature restaurant, The Grille. Each week the restaurant will have outdoor dining available with weekly food specials for you to grab a bite if you want dinner and a show.

The Sunday night concerts are brought to you by Frog Holler, who will also be hosting a FREE Drive-In concert on Saturday, May 28th from 7-10pm.

Festivals

Festivals are finally back in action! Sitting upon 330 acres of mountain landscape, there is plenty of room at Bear Creek to host festivals all year long.

Wine Festivals

Many folks have attended wine festivals in PA in previous years, and Bear Creek’s festival was a bucket-list destination among them. This year, the resort will contribute once again to the sipping soirees with a Spring Wine Festival on Sunday, April 24th, a Summer Wine Festival on Friday, July 22nd and a Harvest Wine Festival scheduled for Sunday, November 20th. Tickets are $30 per person. Your designated driver can also join the festivities sans alcohol for $5.

Cigar & Spirits

Join us for an evening of cigars and spirits featuring a wide selection of Cigars International’s finest selection. This event will take place on Friday, July 8th from 6-10pm. On this evening you can expect cigars paired with an assortment of tastings from distilleries, wineries, and breweries, plus local delicious food and music.

View the Cigars & Spirits webpage for ticket pricing.

Berks Fiddle Fest

It’s official! The Berks Fiddle Fest will return to Bear Creek on Sunday, September 18th. Last year was the kick-off year to this event being hosted at Bear Creek. The Berks Fiddle Fest will be an annual event every September at the resort, with hopes of expanding to a multi-day event. This year the event is featuring the same great entertainment and musicianship, but with the addition of an open mic! Sitting on the edge of both counties, Bear Creek hopes to attract additional guests from the Lehigh Valley.

Visit the Berks Fiddle Fest webpage for a list of performers and raffle items.

Country Jam Music Festival

Take part in the fall festival that’ll rock your socks off. Kick back & enjoy some sweet beats whilst viewing the mountain’s fall foliage on Sunday, October 16th. Fall does not get better than this.

Wineries, distilleries, and other food vendors will be providing samples and products for sale. This event will be held in the base area. Please bring your own chair or blanket for seating.

View the Country Jam webpage for the full performance schedule and ticket pricing.

Outdoor Dining

With warm summer nights right around the corner, The Grille at Bear Creek is getting ready for outdoor dining. Although a year-round spot for the Macungie locals, the resort’s signature restaurant is best -known for its al fresco dining with unmatched mountain scenery that attracts guests from both Lehigh and Berks Counties. The official start date is May 3rd, so you don’t have to wait until summer to dine outdoors. The Grille makes for a relaxing evening away from the ordinary any time of year.

Races

Bear Creek sits upon 330 acres that are cultivated for skiing and snowboarding in the winter, as well as hiking and biking in the summer. This year, the resort plans on hosting its annual mountain bike races once again.

XC Challenge

The kick-off to the MASS race series will be Bear Creek’s XC Challenge race on Sunday, June 5th. Pros leave the start at 9am, while other race categories prepare for their start times throughout the day. This cross-country mountain bike race has multiple courses that cater to pros as well as first-timers. Registration is now live at bikereg.com.

XC Night Race

In a similar style to the XC race, Bear Creek also seeks to host a night race on Friday, August 5th from 7-11pm. The race takes place under the slope lights, but all racers must bring their own lights to help pave their way to the finish line. This is another chance for racers to snag points in the 2022 MASS race series.

Activities

If you’re looking for some family -fun, make the Mountain Activity Center at Bear Creek your destination. The giant swing and archery are clear winners among the kids. With complete instruction and all equipment, these activities are safe and fun for everyone. The giant swing is a summer camp favorite and makes a great activity for day trips in PA for kids.

Bear Creek’s summer activities continue with guided SXS tours and axe throwing. The SXS tour lasts one hour, and it gives you a tour of the wooded areas, while providing a little history of the resort along the way. The resort also enhanced its outdoor yoga class by offering it two days a week.

The Mountain Activity Center is located in the lodge plaza. It’s a central location where all outdoor activities can be found – making  navigation around the resort premise easier for guests.
